guitar hero is a good choice
You should get gears of war so that when I get my 360 we can be live friends and we can play with chainsaws in VR! Horray!
- Rockstar's Table Tennis is really good fun
- Amped 3 is massively underrated and massively fun. And has you chasing a snowboarding Yeti for a sock puppet mountie.
- Project Gotham 3 is good racing fun.
- Dead or Alive's a decent beat'em up

Don't go near Perfect Dark: Zero. It's shit.

I was really underwhelmed with Viva Pinata. All of the aimlessless of Animal Crossing. All of the stats grinding of World of Warcraft. Non of the fun of either.

Personally I like Viva Pinata, but that is probably because I have pretty much no ability to play first person shooters.

I would have to agree with Simon Wistow and say PG3 is "good racing fun."

@Simon + quorn: I'll check out table tennis. I'm not so sure I need racing games in my life as they're mostly fluff to me since I don't know one car from another. Viva pinata wasn't really on my list, and PD:0 I was kindof looking forward to since I enjoyed PD on n64 so much... I'll have to see if there's a demo first.

@.tiff: Are there rules against curbstomping coworkers in GOW? 'cause that would really harsh my mellow.

@henroy: I was thinking that I was only going to get crackdown for the halo 3 beta but I'm not really that interested in halo multiplayer and I've been hearing really good things about crackdown. Maybe I'll get it.
+1 for Table Tennis. I thought Viva Pinata was fun for a few hours. Dead Rising is pretty rad, but I don't know if it meets your frequent saving requirement. Burnout Revenge is nice with next-gen graphics, but I think Test Drive Unlimited can be a bit more fun just driving around the streets of the island between races and challenges.

Some of the best 360 titles are the XBLA games. Boom Boom Rocket is pretty fun, though I only played it a little and classical remix is a pretty narrow musical genre. Lumines is nice on a big screen. Geometry Wars is cool, though Mutant Storm is a little less monotonous. Uno can be fun if you have your own music to play.

Sadly, Sneak King was not that great.
does Bejewelled come already installed? i can play that game for hours.
oh brother.

you promised me a giant flat screen tv for the living room before we got an 360.

we must have the giant tv for halo 3.

so what of it?
Get the giant tv, then get Guitar Hero. It's very high tech- ya know getting the heroin to transfer from the disc and into the gamer :D

I'd like to second all recommendations of Crackdown and Viva. I've lost hours to both games and Viva is readily available second hand.

Also, can I recommend Worms and Geometry wars on Live Arcade. You add points to your Xbox live account and download them. They're super fun.
beck- will you come visit us if we have your heroin readily available? i know you can't go without.
I can second Crackdown. Lots of fun, and they've added some new stuff via XBox Live.

Oblivion is fun if you like fantasy role playing games.
Gears of war rules!!
